Exchange Server 2010 SP1

I contacted MS support the other week to verify if a paging/page file is still necessary in Exchange 2010, given the fact that Exchange 2010 is 64-bit and can utilize well over 4 GB RAM/memory. This was the response:

This question is frequently asked, and my answer is yes, we do need the paging file, and the size of the paging file should be the size of the physical RAM + 10MB.

The article Exchange 2010 System Requirements at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996719.aspx was referenced. The Hardware section states this: The page file size minimum and maximum must be set to physical RAM plus 10  MB.

So for 64 GB, it would be 65546 (65536 MB + 10 MB).

Tested with Exchange Server 2010 SP1

This was a bit tricky as I couldn’t find any good documentation when I was researching this the other week (Nov 2011), even though Exchange 2010 has been out for some time now. From reading http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124973.aspx, you’d think that selecting the check box for "Forward meeting requests to delegates" would be all that's needed, but there are actually two important settings/parameters missing. Exchange Server 2010 SP1 RU3

I tried to look up the error below on 2011-10-03 and didn’t turn up anything useful. It was not a permission issue. It turns out that the Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication service wasn’t started so starting it resolved the issue. The service’s description states “Processes mailbox move requests” but apparently it’s used for exports also. (more…)
