Some notes regarding deleted item recovery of an entire public folder in Exchange Server 2003 SP2.
- Subfolders and content are all recovered.
- The folder does retain custom permissions, but with the addition of the user who recovered the folder as an owner.
- The folder name will have “ (Recovered)” appended to it, e.g. TestFolder2 (Recovered).
- The folder alias will have “ (Recovered)” appended to it since it's based off of the name.
- If the folder was e-mail enabled, it will be e-mail enabled again, but custom e-mail addresses are NOT retained. The new e-mail address will be based off of the alias which means it’ll have the word “Recovered” appended to it, e.g., TestFolder2Recovered@my-corp.com.
- The address list name will be retained. For mail-enabled folders, the address list name on the general tab of the folder properties is what’s used as the display name in the Global Address List.
- The creation date of the recovered folder gets changed to the date of the recovery.
